In Rome, there are a total of 8 Egyptian and 5 Roman obelisks. In the context of this article, we will focus on four obelisks that were re-erected by Pope Sixtus V. Around 1587, all of Rome’s obelisks were toppled down and it was Pope Sixtus V who started re-erecting four of the fallen obelisks in Rome. Pope Sixtus V also redesigned the Piazza in front of the Saint Peter Basilica that was itself under construction at the time. The current oval shaped piazza with the obelisk at the Vatican was designed and built at the orders of Pope Sixtus V. It was part of an overall urban redesign of the city of Rome in which four of the obelisks were given new locations. These four new locations were centered around the obelisk at St. Peter’s Square which became the focal point.
The first Egyptian obelisk was originally shipped by Emperor Augustus in 10 BC from Heliopolis, Egypt (dedicated to Seti I/ Ramesses II) to the Circus Maximus in Rome. Circus Maximus was a Roman hippodrome used for chariot racing. The obelisk was moved by Sixtus V from Circus Maximus to Piazza del Popolo where it still resides today.
The second Egyptian obelisk was originally shipped from Thebes (temple of Amun, Tuthmosis IV) to Circus Maximus in Rome by Constantine II the son of Constantine the Great. The initial plans to ship the obelisk to Circus Maximus (Latin for the greatest circus) in Rome however were made by Contantine the Great who didn’t have the facilities to actually ship the largest of the Egyptian obelisks (32.18 m tall) to Rome. Eventually, his son succeeded in carrying out his father plans. Both obelisks were placed on the Spina of Circus Maximus. The Spina (backbone) is a 217 meter long wall in the centre of the hippodrome. This obelisk was moved by Pope Sixtus V from Circus Maximus to Piazza di San Giovanni (Laterno) next to the Basilica of San Giovanni.
It’s important to realize that both obelisks of Circus Maximus aligned with the Winter Solstice Sun at sunrise, since the Spina on which they were placed also aligned with the Winter Solstice Sun at sunrise! (see Vatican Alignment calculations)
The third Egyptian obelisk was originally moved to Rome in 37 AD by Emperor Caligula and situated at the Vatican Circus. The origin of this obelisk is unclear. It’s the only obelisk without hieroglyphs. This obelisk was again relocated by Sixtus V to St. Peter’s Square where it is seen today.
The fourth and last obelisk is a Roman obelisk that originally stood in Mausoleum of Augustus and was moved by Sixtus V to the piazza in front of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore at the Piazza del Esquillino.
What is interesting in the context of this article are the before and after locations of these obelisks in the overall urban redesign plan of Pope Sixtus V.
Circus Maximus, for instance, was built in a bend on the bank of the River Tiber, and on a Winter Solstice day the Sun would be seen rising over the Tiber River in line with both obelisks at the Spina when viewed from the Vatican. Pope Sixtus V could have restored Circus Maximus and placed the obelisks at their original locations. It’s interesting to notice that viewed from the St. Peter’s Square these obelisks would be aligned with the Winter Solstice Sun! This is because St. Peter’s Square lies exactly in line with Circus Maximus and the Winter Solstice Sun. Instead, Sixtus had chosen to relocate one of the obelisks of Circus Maximus to the Piazza del Popolo.
The obelisk at the Piazza del Popolo, however, aligns with the obelisk at St. Peter’s Square and the summer solstice Sun at sunrise! (See Vatican Alignment calculations)
Like the Equinox Sun, the summer solstice Sun is seen rising over the River Tiber from St. Peter’s Square since the obelisk at the Piazza del Popolo is situated only two blocks away from the river.
The other obelisk of Circus Maximus was Rome’s tallest obelisk and was moved to the Piazza di San Giovanni in Laterno (in southeast direction from the Vatican) which resides at an azimuth of 114° 0’ which is 9 degrees off the Winter Solstice sunrise azimuth of 123° for Rome. While both obelisks in Circus Maximus originally aligned to the Winter Solstice, Pope Sixtus V deliberately altered these alignments and made sure that one of the obelisks now aligned with the Summer Solstice Sun. The other obelisk that previously aligned to the Winter Solstice Sun was now deliberately misaligned.
It’s obvious that the alignment of both the obelisk at St. Peter’s Square and the obelisk at Piazza del Popolo must have been intentional since both obelisks were put there by Sixtus V. While he could have chosen for a Winter Solstice alignment of St. Peter’s Square obelisk by erecting the other obelisk at Cricus Maximus itself, he chose otherwise.
It’s beyond any doubt that Sixtus V was well aware of these alignments since he designed St. Peter’s Square to be a giant sun dial. In 1817, circular stones were set marking the tip of the obelisk’s shadow at noon. Since the Sun moves in between the tropics during a solar year, it enters all of the signs of the zodiac in one solar year, and the marks set out in stone therefore make a gnomon of the obelisk at St. Peter’s Square. We surmise that Pope Sixtus V was also well aware of the significance of the Great Celestial Conjunction around 2012 and its association with the biblical End Times.
To enhance this argument, it’s interesting to realize that the coat of arms of Pope Sixtus V contained an eight-pointed cross above four stacked mountains (or hills). The coat of arms of Sixtus was sometimes also depicted with three instead of four hills.
As explained before, in ancient Egypt and freemasonry mountains, pillars and clouds all represent the Milky Way. The four mountains in Pope Sixtus coat of arms could therefore represent the four Great Celestial Conjunctions or the four Milky Way Equinox/Solstice alignments that occur in a Great Year!

Pope Sixtus V used the eight-pointed cross in abundance in architectures and; in many cases he even placed the four-pointed Christian cross on top of an eight-pointed cross! The obelisk at Piazza di Giovanni, for instance, was adorned with both a four and eight-pointed cross by Pope Sixtus V. It was also a reference to this coat of arms!
The four Great Celestial Conjunctions in a Great Year are the four mergers of the two superimposed four-pointed crosses (Earth Cross and Galactic Cross) to form a single four-pointed cross!

We therefore suggest that the eight-pointed cross at St. Peter’s Square symbolically represents a Great Celestial Conjunction.
It’s the alignment of the Earth Cross with the Galactic Cross that is being symbolized at St. Peter’s Square. Notice that there is a small four-pointed cross in the center around the obelisk (the Sun) that is aligned with the outer eight-pointed cross. The eight-pointed cross is the superposition of the Galactic Cross and the Earth Cross. This is why Pope Sixtus V placed a four-pointed cross on top of the eight pointed cross! The crosses are recognized as follows:
- The axis on which the two fountains at St. Peter’s Square reside is the Galactic Equator of the Milky Way since the Milky Was is associated with water.
- The cardinal direction of this Galactic Equator axis corresponds with the Milky Way that straddles the East horizon from North to South.
- The Earth Cross aligns closely (but not perfectly) with the two solstice axis
The esoteric significance of the Summer Solstice alignment of St. Peter’s Square obelisk with the obelisk at the Piazza del Popolo is that it symbolizes a Summer Solstice Galactic Alignment. Since the sky chart over St. Peter’s Square with the Pleiades residing over the Seven Hills symbolizes the Silver Gate, we postulate that the Vatican alignments represent a Summer Solstice Galactic Alignment at the Silver Gate. This alignment occurs right now in era 2012!

43. The Rattling of the Pleiades. In his recent book, Gateway To Atlantis, Andrew Collins has amassed a collection of evidence that the civilization of Atlantis was destroyed by a tidal wave following the collision of a comet (known to geologists as the Carolina Bays comet), with the Earth, and that Cuba is a remnant of the landmass. The proximity of Cuba to Mesoamerica would explain the Aztec and Maya fascination with cataclysm. The Chilam Balam of Chumayel, Collins tells us, “spoke of an almighty cataclysm during which the ‘Great Serpent’ was ‘ravished from the heavens together with the rattles of its tail’ so that its ‘skin and pieces’ of its bones ‘fell here upon the Earth’”. The Calina Carib tribe in Surinam, South America, still have myths of a fiery serpent that came from the Pleiades and ‘brought the world to an end’ with ‘a great fire and a deluge’.
There is also a Hebrew legend, says Collins, that “the Great Flood was caused after ‘the upper waters rushed through the space left when God removed two stars out of the constellation Pleiades’”. Incredibly enough, the Jews believed this had occurred on a date corresponding to November 17, while the Aztecs, on the other side of the world, held their New Fire Ceremony on November 14. Collins has pointed out that the Pleiades were seen as the rattle of a celestial snake, as Jenkins has also said, (see item 34), but Collins also adds that the Pleiades as the snake rattle “warns its potential victim of an imminent strike.” Collins thinks this may come from the direction of the Pleiades.
Astronomers call earth-crossing asteroids “Apollo objects”. This brings to mind Philip K. Dick’s enigmatic statement in Valis that “the Head Apollo is about to return”.

44. The Eye in The Pyramid. On Raymond Mardyks’ website, (now unavailable), he decodes the Great Seal of America, which appears on every dollar bill. The Seal shows a 13-step pyramid with the date 1776 in Roman numerals, on it. Just as the pyramid of Kukulkcan has 91 steps on each of the 4 sides, making 364 in all, plus the top level giving the number 365, the Great Seal pyramid also has an encoded calendrical meaning. Like some Maya pyramids, it has a date on it, but in the Gregorian calendar. 4 sides of 13 levels gives 52, which is the number of weeks in our year. However, 13 and 52 are also the key numbers in the Mayan calendar systems.
In the Great Cycle, there are 13 baktuns of 20 katuns each; each katun consists of 20 tuns, so there are 5200 tuns in the Great Cycle. There are also 52 haabs in a Calendar Round. Some Mayan groups named cycles after end dates rather than beginning dates. They would also have seen a series of 13 katuns as a significant cycle. 1776 was not only the year that the Declaration of Independence was signed (on the 4th of July), but was also a special year in the Mayan calendar. Just as the last katun in the Great Cycle is “katun 2012”, the first katun in the cycle of 13 was “katun 1776”. In fact, the katun ended 33 days before the signing. So 1776 is the bottom level of the pyramid, where the date is actually inscribed – the top of the pyramid is therefore 2012.

The top would also be 2012 if each level represented one of the 13 baktuns in the Great Cycle, with 3114 BC at the bottom. The top of the Great Seal pyramid shows an eye-in-triangle, which has been associated with Sirius, God, the pineal gland, and the Illuminati. Mardyks goes on to point out that not only was the Egyptian calendar based on the rising of Sirius, but that “the Sun is astrologically conjunct Sirius every year on July 4, for the birthday of the United States of America”. Also, some Mayan groups froze their New Year to July 26, “when Sirius rises in that part of the world.”
On January 1 at midnight, Sirius culminates, reaching its highest point in the sky, at the only time of year when it is visible all night long.

45. Great Pyramid of Giza as 2012 Indicator. An essay by Paul White, on the San Graal website, includes the following: “According to the “calendar in stone” of the Great Pyramid, which describes the so-called “Phoenix Cycle” of our galactic orbit, the present time period ends (converted to our present calendar) in the year 2012 AD. The Greek word PHOENIX, derived from the Egyptian word PA-HANOK, actually means “The House of Enoch.” No references are given for this statement.

I have checked Michael Mandeville’s site Return of the Phoenix, but can find no reference to 2012, (Nigel Appleby claimed that in his self-published book, Mandeville says the 5th flight of the Phoenix will be in December 2012 – see item 28). On Mandeville’s site, he says the 5th flight will be in 2000 or 2001. The information could have come from the Jones/Wilkie/Ambilac sites, but the 2012 prediction here comes from an analysis of the whole Giza plateau, not just the Great Pyramid – and it gets more obscure with each new article (see item 39). 46. Re-birth of Osiris: In an e-mail debate between Rush Allen and James Wilkie, in which Allen challenges Wilkie to explain himself, and Wilkie fails, Allen claims that although he sees the Ambilac articles as disinformation, they are right in their conclusion, that the Hall of Records will be opened on December 21, 2012 at 10:18:13 local Cairo time (22:18:13 Pacific Standard Time). However, he says the opening of the Hall of Records is a kind of mass illumination of mankind. He concludes that Wilkie & Jones must have got the actual time by intuitional methods, since their reasoning is impossible to follow, while he found the time by astronomy and astrology, following a study of Jenkins’ work.
Since he has found that “the zenith meridian at Giza runs through Jupiter at the Hyades in Taurus”, this means “the kingdom (Jupiter) will be restored to Egypt (Taurus) at that precise moment. Thus, Osiris, the Bull of Egypt, will return from the dead at 22:18:13 on December 21, 2012.”

47. Adrian Gilbert – Signs in the Sky. Adrian Gilbert’s New Book Signs in The Sky explores biblical prophecy and traces Christian origins to Egypt, to try and find an answer to the question of what exactly the prophesied “signs in the sky” preceding the end of the age, will be. Gilbert has been influenced by De Santillana & Von Dechend’s epic work on mythology, Hamlet’s Mill, which finds most mythology to be cosmologically or astronomically based. In support of Paul White’s statement (item 45 above), Gilbert does conclude that Giza is a “map of time”, and that “this position of Orion’s Belt could therefore symbolize the idea of the returning phoenix at the end of one age and the beginning of another”.
Building on his discoveries in The Orion Mystery, Gilbert has discovered that the Orion cult has spread into Turkestan, with the Sabian “star-worshipers”, and the Sarmoung brotherhood, of which the Gurdjieff was a member. Many biblical stories contain coded astrological messages revealing connections to Egyptian beliefs, which came out of Egypt with Moses.
We know about the alignment of the Winter solstice sun with Galactic Centre, between Sagittarius and Scorpio, which Jenkins has identified as the end-point of the Mayan Long Count in 2012. This is caused by the approx. 26,000-year “precession of the equinoxes”, except that the Mayans were measuring “precession of the solstices”, which is the same cycle, but measured from a different point – the precession of the winter solstice, as opposed to the vernal equinox. What Gilbert seems to have discovered is an Egyptian knowledge of the precession of the summer solstice, and the consequent encoding of this knowledge in the bible. The vernal equinox, as we know, is precessing from Pisces to Aquarius, at the same time as the winter solstice precesses from Sagittarius to Scorpio, and the summer solstice precesses from Gemini to Taurus.
The Golden Gate is at the point where the ecliptic (dotted line) crosses the Milky Way, just near Galactic Centre (GC); the part of the sky which was of great interest to the Mayan people. At the other end of the Milky Way, the Silver Gate is above Orion, at the centre of the Duat; the Egyptian Netherworld which was represented on the ground in the Giza area.
The ancient Greeks, who received much of their knowledge from Egypt, believed that souls reside in the Milky Way between incarnations, and that there are 2 “gates” on the Milky Way. These are the Silver Gate of Gemini, through which souls descend to earth, and the Golden Gate of Sagittarius, through which souls ascend. Other versions say the souls of men can ascend by either gate, but that the Silver Gate leads to reincarnation and the ancestors, and the Golden Gate leads beyond reincarnation. The Golden Gate is also that through which the Gods descend. |

The Silver Gate is just above the “hand” of Orion, who the Egyptians associated with Osiris, and they depicted him holding a star in his hand. In the Orion Mystery, Bauval & Gilbert presumed this to be the star Aldebaran. Now, Gilbert has found that the Egyptian word for star, s’ba, also means “door”, so Osiris is holding a Star-Gate. In some depictions, Osiris is holding an ankh towards the gate, so this must be the key which unlocks the star-gate.

After studying bible prophecies, visiting Israel, and computing star and planet positions on his SKYGLOBE software, Gilbert has discerned that the astronomy of summer solstice 2000, June 21-22, and also on June 29, this is the beginning of the Apocalypse, when the Silver Star Gate opens. This is the “Omega position” of Orion, rather than 2380 AD, when Orion reaches its most Northerly point, as presumed in The Orion Mystery. It is the end of a 13,000 year cycle that Gilbert calls the Age of Adam, or the Age of Orion.
On June 29 2000, Orion is in the alpha/omega position, with the 7 On 21 June 2000, the solstice Sun (ankh/key) is in the star-gate sacred planets representing the 7 lampstands of the Book of Revelation......and casts no shadow on the Khafre pyramid.
In August 2012, says Gilbert, Venus (symbolizing Isis & Mary as “Bride of Heaven”), will be “stationary in the hand of Orion”. Orion, as he has explained convincingly in the book, symbolizes Christ, and this is his mystic marriage (and there is a hint that we should be prepared with our “wedding garment”, which, to the Egyptians was a “stellar, Sahu body” that needed to be “crystallized”). This could also be the return of Quetzalcoatl, since he was connected with Venus, and thereby the sign preceding a “second coming”.
At any rate, Gilbert’s interpretation of Biblical prophecy, using the fig tree parable, and the return of the Jews to Israel in 1948, indicates that all prophecies would be accomplished by 2018. This also happens to be, according to John Major Jenkins, the last year that the winter solstice sun conjuncts Galactic Centre, in the other star-gate. Gilbert calls the Silver Gate the Gate of Hades, so there may be 12 years of hell coming up, before the opening of….Heaven’s Gate! (sounds familiar…) See here for an independent corroboration of some of Gilbert's discoveries.
48. Sphinx Stargate. While we’re on the subject… this is the name of astrophysicist Dr. Paul LaViolette’s website, in which he gives some information about the content of his books; Talk of The Galaxy is about ET communication, SETI, Pulsars, Astronomy, Supernovae & Crop circles. Beyond the Big Bang, supports an alternative cosmology in which there was no Big Bang, looking for evidence in ancient mythology and Egyptian mysteries. Subquantum Kinetics is about revolutionary physics theory. Electrogravitic Systems is about anti-gravity and free energy.
However, most interesting to us at the moment, is Earth Under Fire, - Humanity’s Survival of the Apocalypse. LaViolette combines recent scientific data with myth & legend to rediscover the reason that ancient civilizations tried to warn us of impending disaster. This is a scientist with an impressive list of achievements. He lists 12 ground-breaking discoveries that he made, which were later vindicated by other researchers. These concern galactic core explosion cycles; Galactic super-waves of cosmic rays; cosmic ray levels fluctuation; tin isotopes; global warming; solar flare activity; geomagnetic reversals; radiocarbon date anomalies; gamma ray bursts; archaeo-astronomy ( knowledge of Galactic Centre in tribal myth).
The arrow of Sagittarius and the sting of Scorpio define the position of Galactic centre, with accompanying mythology. The foot of Ophiuchus, the Serpent Handler is also right over Galactic Centre, as Raymond Mardyks points out. This happens to be at the Golden Gate which Gilbert brings attention to, (see item 47) while at the Silver Gate, lies the Galactic anticentre - the direction in which the Galactic Superwave departed, which is defined by Orion's club & the horns of Taurus, or the ankh in the hand of Osiris (see item 47). The nearby Pleiades constellation is associated with catastrophe, not just in Mexico, (see item 43 & 34), but also ancient Persia and many other cultures, LaViolette tells us.
One of a collection of many graphs and diagrams in LaViolette's book, showing information from various ice core samples, radio astronomy maps, & geological studies of species extinction. For reader interest, he also includes evidence from mythology, the tarot, astrology, prophecy and hypnotic progression ! The book is a tour-de force, but not a little frightening. Here we can see where a mass extinction coincides with the start of a period lasting over a thousand years, of high solar flare activity due to cosmic dust from a Galactic superwave. This happened 12,700 years ago, which is half a precessional period. If this reminds you of item 32, where geologist Greg Braden predicted a geomagnetic reversal, linked to a 13,000 year cycle, LaViolette confirms that at that time "...the intensity and declination of the earth's magnetic field underwent major variations in step with the eleven-year sunspot cycle. The amplitude of these cycles was hundreds of times larger than modern geomagnetic solar cycles, suggesting that solar flare activity at that time was also hundreds of times more intense, approaching levels normally observed in T Tauri stars."

If true, one of the most important books ever.
If the central thesis of EARTH UNDER FIRE is correct, this is one of the most important books ever written. Although it would take a team of very independent-minded scientists from at least a dozen different disciplines to make a solid assessment of the various novel claims & interpretations made here, LaViolette's theory does what all good new theories do: it takes a variety of disparate, previously neglected or unaccounted for facts and weaves them into a new perspective in which they fit together seamlessly like pieces of a puzzle.
LaViolette proposes a new version of quantum mechanics which applies nonlinear dynamical ideas from Prigogine to the long-neglected, but never disproven, notion of the ether. LaViolette says this model predicts that the galactic core is not a blackhole, but a supermassive energy object which explodes (or beats like a heart?) periodically.
This pulsation sends out a wave of cosmic rays which then fill the solar system with interstellar gas, occluding sunlight, and increasing solar flare activity. LaViolette builds on recent work by Graham Hancock, Robert Bauval, John Anthony West, et al., and argues that the sphinx/pyramid complex, the zodiac and the tarot were all time capsule messages to future generations about the last time this event hit earth, with catastrophic consequences (about 13,000 years ago). If the indications from the Mayan calendar are correct, another such wave may be incoming around 2012 AD. That gives us fourteen years to prepare, if these numbers handed down from ancient astronomers, and polar ice core samples, are anything to go by.
While the central hypothesis, and the various interpretations that follow from it, are highly unorthodox, there is next to nothing of the flaky fringe science/UFOlogy/New Age vibe in this book. And LaViolette's astronomically based deciphering of the sphinx/zodiac "cryptogram" provides further evidence that there was indeed a technically advanced civilization on earth ("Atlantis") which appears to have been largely extinguished by the proposed 'superwave' catastrophe, which also brought the last ice age to an end. We can only hope LaViolette is wrong, or if he is right, that we are in the 26,000 year lull between superwaves, rather than the 13,000 year half cycle. If the latter, the information contained in this book should be broadcast globally, with international interdisciplinary conferences convened immediately. Let's hope LaViolette is completely wrong, but just in case. . . READ THIS BOOK.

Ankh and Djed pillar
The Ankh and Djed pillars are the quintessential symbols that represent the ecliptic and Milky Way crossing par excellence.

The Djed pillar represents the Milky Way, the Tree of Life and Axis Mundi. The Axis Mundi was represented in ancient times as a rope or a ladder into the skies (Jacobs’s ladder), by a pillar or a staff. The Raising of the Djed pillar is the perfect Egyptian metaphor that explains how the Earth Cross becomes conjunct with the Galactic Cross. While the Earth Cross rotates against the backdrop of the fixated Galactic Cross, motion is relative and could also be expressed in reverse terms where it appears that the Galactic Cross (Djed Pillar) aligns with the Earth Cross. In other words how the Galactic Equator becomes perpendicular to either the equinox or the solstice axis and forms a cross. This I believe is what ‘Raising the Djed pillar’ in Egyptian mythology is expressing.

The Ankh represents the Sun on the crossing of the Milky Way and ecliptic. It’s a symbol that may have developed from the Shen symbol (O|) into the Ankh (O|-). In the picture below on the left the crossing of ecliptic and Milky Way is expressed at the Sagittarius-Scorpio nexus since the scarab beetle occurs inside the Ankh. In the picture in the centre we see the Djed Pillar with the solar disk in between the horns of Taurus. It represents the crossing of the ecliptic and Milky Way near the Gemini-Taurus nexus. In the picture on the right we see the Djed pillar with the Ankh on top while the Ankh is holding the solar disk.

In the picture below the Ankh crosses are held in cross form to explain their meaning. They represent the two crossings of the ecliptic and the Milky Way. Pharaohs as the living Horus where buried with the flail and sceptre held in the same posture since their soul would travel to the Golden Gate or Gate of Gods after dead. The Golden Gate is the crossing of the ecliptic and Milky Way near the Sagittarius - Scorpio nexus. The Silver Gate or Gate of Man on the other hand represents the crossing of the ecliptic and Milky Way near the Gemini -Taurus nexus. The Egyptians believed that the soul of man incarnated through this gate into the physical realm.

The fact that the crossed arms are really mend to represent a cross I believe is demonstrated by sarcophaguses that show the pharaoh with crossed arms along with a big X cross depicted on his chest.

In the picture below we see two other examples that demonstrate that the cross must be associated with the crossing of the ecliptic and Milky Way. The statue on the right has his arms crossed while he’s holding an Ankh (Sun on the Milky Way) in one hand and a Djed Pillar (Milky Way) in the other hand. On the left we see the decoration on the inside of a sarcophagus depicting Horus with a big X cross on his chest. Horus (as the Sun) is fully encircled by a rattlesnake representing the ecliptic.

The following artefact is truly remarkable and may be regarded as proof that the Egyptian understood the Great Celestial Conjunction in terms of crosses. The eight pointed cross that we identified in the Dendera Zodiac is displayed here together with two of the most sacred symbols of Egypt, the symbols that must be associated with the crossing of the ecliptic and Milky Way where the Sun resides at the equinoxes and/or solstices of a Great Celestial Conjunction. The Ankh and Djed pillar are placed on what may be a barque. Egyptian deities in particular those that were associated with the Sun (Ra, Horus) were often placed inside a barque because the Sun while travelling along the ecliptic in a Great Year (precession), needs a ferry to cross the Milky Way twice. The fact that these three symbols, Ankh, Djed pillar and 8 pointed cross appear together in one artefact is no coincidence and shows that these three symbols belong together.

Horus was the son of Osiris and Isis and it was said that his name meant ‘Horus who rules with two eyes’. His white right eye represented the Sun while his left black eye represented the moon. Horus lost his left eye in a fight with his wicked uncle Set, the brother of this father Osiris. Horus wanted to avenge Seth's murder of his father but in the fight Seth tore out Horus his eye. The eyes were buried and Lotus flowers grew from his eyes. Horus was finally cured by Hathor. Could the eyes of Horus be another metaphor for the two crossings of the ecliptic and Milky Way?

Notice the falcon on the left and the cobra to the right of the Eye of Horus. The cobra represents the ecliptic. The blue-grey part of the eye with the ‘teardrop’ underneath the eye looks very similar to the Ankh symbol. Why was the teardrop added to the Eye of Horus?

The Sun rises in the East only at equinoxes, could the pyramid texts therefore be speaking of the equinox alignment with the ‘Eye of Horus’, the ecliptic-Milky Way crossing?
The ‘Eye of Horus’ was also seen on images of his mother Hathor and hence Hathor was associated with the Eye of Horus as well. We’ve demonstrated that Isis-Hathor must be equated with the ecliptic Milky Way crossing at the Gemini-Taurus nexus. In addition the Egyptians believed that the Eye of Horus assisted in rebirth. The Eye of Horus is therefore probably just another metaphor for the ecliptic-Milky Way crossing. In the Book of the Dead the Eye of Horus appears on top of the pillar next to the bull with the solar disk between the horns with the Eye of Horus.

The following decoration appears on a sarcophagus and contains a lot of symbolism concerning the ecliptic-Milky Way crossings combined in one picture (see picture below). First of all we see Horus with the solar disk on his head seated on his throne. He’s depicted twice once facing east once facing west, the cardinal directions of the equinox sun. Seated on his throne he may represent the Sun on the ecliptic-Milky Way crossing when the Sun resides in its most sacred place in a precession cycle; the Sun is put on his throne so to speak. Horus is depicted twice on this throne because there are two ecliptic-Milky Way crossings on the Galactic Equator, one is the Sagittarius-Scorpio nexus, the other the Gemini-Taurus nexus. Both crossings appear on opposite sides of the Galactic Equator and may be expressed by the fact that the two Horuses are sitting back to back. Underneath each of the thrones the eye of Horus is depicted because as we have demonstrated above the eye of Horus is yet another metaphor for the ecliptic-Milky Way crossing.
In the centre we see the scarab beetle, symbolizing both the precessing Sun as well as the Sagittarius-Scorpio nexus. Right below the scarab beetle we see a winged version of Isis. Isis-Hathor must be associated with the ecliptic-Milky Way crossing at the Gemini-Taurus nexus.
Finally four Ankhs are depicted around the scarab beetle; the four Ankhs in this decoration are most likely expressing the fact that four times in a precession cycle the Sun resides on the Milky Way, at the vernal equinox, fall equinox, summer solstice and winter solstice. These four moments define the four Great Celestial Conjunctions in a Great Year.

Greek Cross
The Greek cross predates the Christian Cross and still contains the esoteric knowledge of the Great Celestial Conjunctions in the Great Year. This cross has nothing to do with the crucifixion of Christ because it was used by the Greek long before Christ was born. Christianity later adopted the Calvery Cross as its sacred symbol and the cross association with the original ancient symbolism of the Great Celestial Conjunctions and the Great Year was gradually lost. The Catholic Church has done everything within its power to eradicate these pagan roots of the cross and its original meaning but traces of the pagan roots of the new religion of the Age of Pisces can still be found in the ancient customs, symbols and artefacts of the Church. We will discuss the Church Crosses in the next paragraph and demonstrate that the ancient esoteric cross associations with the Great Year are not lost but preserved even within the Catholic Church!

The Greek zodiac cross below encodes knowledge of the Great Celestial Conjunctions and precession.

First of all notice the eight-spoked wheel in the centre of the Greek cross; it’s the symbol of the Great Celestial Conjunction. The eight spoked wheel represents the zodiac wheel with the Earth Cross (the cross formed by the equinoxes and solstices) and the Galactic Cross superimposed. It is the zodiac wheel that spins during a precession cycle denoting the Earth Cross that rotates against the backdrop of the static Galactic Cross.
The Greek cross contains the 12 signs of the zodiac arranged in such a way that they encode the Great Celestial Conjunction of era-2012. From the centre of the cross there are three groups of zodiac signs in concentric rings around the centre. In astrology these three groups are called the ‘fixed signs’, the ‘cardinal signs’ and the ‘mutable signs’. In the zodiac these 3 groups form 3 crosses and that’s why they are displayed on the Greek Cross as three separate crosses as well. This is achieved by the way these signs are distributed over the Greek Cross.
The first ring (closest to the centre) contains the cardinal signs (from the first sign on the right (Aries) in counter clockwise direction):

These four cardinal signs in the Tropical Zodiac determine the equinoxes and solstices! By definition the ‘first point’ of Aries defines the spring equinox, the first point in Cancer the summer solstice, the first point of Libra the autumn equinox and the first point of Capricorn the winter solstice.
The second ring (in the middle) contains the fixed signs (from the first sign on the right (Leo) in counter clockwise direction):

These are the four signs of the zodiac that since ancient times are associated with the Galactic Cross. The third ring contains the mutable signs (from the first sign on the right (Sagittarius) in counter clockwise direction):

- Gemini
- Virgo
The signs of the third ring (outer ring) are the signs of the true Galactic Cross where the Milky Way and the ecliptic intersect. The Galactic Cross is defined by 5° Gemini, 5° Pisces, 5° Sagittarius and 5° Virgo in the sidereal zodiac.
Notice the snake or Ouroborous (a snake biting its own tail) in the Greek cross. The Ouroborous bites its own tail symbolising the cyclic nature of time in general and precession in particular. The snake represents the ecliptic, hence the path the Sun travels both in a solar year and a Platonic Year as well. The Ouroborous connects all the signs in the Greek zodiac cross in a particular order because it runs through the signs from tail to head in a well defined sequence. This sequence is the sequence the Sun passes through the signs in the precession cycle in reverse motion. While the Sun moves in forward direction through the signs of the zodiac in a solar year, it passes through these signs in opposite direction during the precession cycle.
The snake connects the signs of the Tropical Zodiac that are associated with the equinoxes/solstices with the signs associated with the nexuses of the Galactic Cross. The equinoxes and solstices in the Greek cross and their association with the Galactic Cross nexuses are such that they seem to encode the current Great Celestial Conjunction (era-2012) when:
- The sun resides in the Pisces-Aquarius nexus on the spring equinox.
- The sun resides in the Gemini-Cancer nexus on the summer solstice
- The sun resides in the Virgo-Leo nexus on the autumn equinox
- The sun resides in the Sagittarius-Scorpio nexus on the winter solstice

The Ouroborous of the Greek cross connects the signs of the zodiac
such that the current Great Celestial Conjunction (era-2012) is encoded.
If the Greek zodiac cross really encodes the current Great Celestial Conjunction can not be proven beyond any reasonable doubt because the Ouroborous follows the expected sequence order of the zodiac signs such that the signs of the three groups are automatically arranged in the four triplets as indicated in the table above.
Church crosses
Catholic churches are the gathering places of the congregations and the church is the prime religious symbol of Christianity. Few believers are aware of the fact that these church buildings contain pagan elements that can be traced back to ancient Egypt. When a Christian enters the house of his father the first religious ritual that he’s expected to perform is to make the cross sign with the Holy Water with the words ‘In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, Amen’. Most likely the believer does not realise that Amen stands for Amen-Ra or Amen-Re the Sun God of ancient Egypt! I suggest that the cross sign he makes represents the cross of the zodiac and not Christ’s cross!
The Holy Water is contained in a font at the entrance of the church under the steeple. Egyptian temples had sacred pools that were used in purification rituals akin to Baptism. According to Christian teachings, the child will be purified from the sins commit by the parents during the conception of the child.
The ceiling of the entrance (under the steeple) is often adorned with the ‘All seeing eye of God’. The ‘All seeing eye of God’ is copied from the Egyptian ‘All seeing eye of Horus’!

The ‘All seeing Eye’ also occurs on the American Seal and on the dollar bill on the keystone of the pyramid! The founding fathers of the USA were freemasons who understood the significance of these ancient Egyptian symbols.
The church steeple itself has a relation with the ancient Egyptian custom to erect obelisks as tokens of Sun worship and appraisal of the Sun God Amen-Ra. Both in shape and length the church’s steeple and the obelisk have much in common and may explain why the steeple was given a spire to reflect the pyramidal top of the obelisk. The earliest Gothic Cathedrals (Chartres) were given pyramidal shaped spires such as the twelfth-century south tower spire.
On top of the church spire we find the wind vane that aligns with the direction of the wind. There’s a fixed cross that is aligned with the cardinal directions such that the direction of the wind can be determined. Many churches have wind vanes with 8 pointed crosses. In many cases these crosses consist of two separate 4 pointed crosses that are superimposed! One could argue that these 8 pointed crosses contain the four cardinal directions including the directions in between (NNE, NNW, SSE and SSW) but I suggest that the wind vane may have a deeper esoteric meaning! Placed on top of the church’s spire (representing a giant sun worshiping obelisk) the wind vane demonstrates how the axis of the solstice and equinox (the cock) can rotate against the backdrop of a fixed cross (the cross of the cardinal directions). It’s a metaphor for the rotation of the Earth Cross against the backdrop of the Galactic Cross. The wind vane esoterically also stands for alignment, the alignment of the vane with the wind.
Wind vanes found on churches, none of them are very useful since the fixed cross is placed vertical. The one of the right is a real wind vane! Notice how the ‘wind vanes’ are composed of two different four pointed crosses that are superimposed!
At the Vatican this understanding of the two crosses is displayed in a compelling way. At Saint Peter’s Square we find the obelisk at the centre of the square. Around the obelisk we find two circles. The inner circle contains a 4 pointed cross. The outer circle contains an 8 pointed cross. The obelisk at the centre of Saint Peter’s Square represents the Sun. The rotating Earth Cross (inner circle) is displayed here against the backdrop of the 8 pointed cross. The outer circle therefore represents the superimposed crosses of the Earth Cross and Galactic Cross.
The lines of the crosses are set in travertine among the cobblestones of the Plaza. In 1817 circular stones were set to mark the tip of the obelisks shadow at noon making the obelisk a giant sundial gnomon with Saint Peter’s square perfectly aligned to the cardinal directions!

When the Pope gives his blessings to the public at St Peter’s square during the morning service at Easter, he’s facing directly into the equinox Sun which rises due East! The celebration of Easter is associated with the vernal equinox and has pagan roots. Its roots can be traced back to ancient Babylonian myths concerning the goddess Ishtar (pronounced as Easter) as we have demonstrated in this article. Ishtar is linked to the Babylonian understanding of the precession of the equinoxes and its association with the 8 pointed cross (Shamash).
Pope John Paul II addresses the public at Easter 6 days after the vernal equinox at March 27 2005 while he faces the equinox Sun. The palace is adorned with 8 pointed crosses that are associated with Ishtar and Shamash of ancient Babylon.
During services at the Vatican the Pope wears a stole with 8 pointed crosses. The 8 pointed crosses on the stole are actually two different 4 pointed crosses that are superimposed! The palace from which he speaks is adorned with 8 pointed crosses.

One wonders who he really welcomes at Easter facing the equinox Sun when he spreads his arms to form the cross of the Zodiac? Notice the crosses on his stole.
The Coat of Arms of the Holy See contains crosses on crosses and bears little resemblance with the cross that Jesus died on, the real Christian Cross. Notice that there are two crosses on two keys. The keys themselves form yet another cross.

In Christian churches we find abundant examples of 8 pointed crosses in lead glass windows and floor tiles and in most if not all cases these 8 pointed crosses exist of two separate four pointed crosses!

It is important to define what the Galactic Alignment is in precise astronomical terms. (See the Glossary below for terms.)
The Galactic Alignment is the alignment of the December solstice sun with the Galactic equator. This alignment occurs as a result of the precession of the equinoxes.
Precession is caused by the earth wobbling very slowly on its axis and shifts the position of the equinoxes and solstices one degree every 71.5 years. Because the sun is one-half of a degree wide, it will take the December solstice sun 36 years to precess through the Galactic equator (see diagram below).
The precise alignment of the solstice point (the precise center-point of the body of the sun as viewed from earth) with the Galactic equator was calculated to occur in 1998 (Jean Meeus, Mathematical Astronomy Morsels, 1997).
Thus, the Galactic Alignment "zone" is 1998 +/- 18 years = 1980 - 2016. This is "era-2012."
This Galactic Alignment occurs only once every 26,000 years, and was what the ancient Maya were pointing to with the 2012 end-date of their Long Count calendar.
These are the astronomical facts of the matter. From a larger perspective, we can visualize the 2012 Galactic Alignment in the following way:
Position A is where the December solstice sun was in relation to the Milky Way some 3,000 years ago. Position B is 1,500 years ago. And position C is "era-2012", when the December solstice sun has converged, as a result of the precession of the equinoxes, with the exact center-line of the Milky Way (the Galactic equator). Notice that the place of alignment is where the 'nuclear bulge' of the Galactic Center is located.

Descriptions of the process are also there, but it should be noted that Nick describes what I refer to as "the solstice-galaxy alignment" with a preference for the equinox as the measuring reference. Thus, he speaks of the "Holy Cross" of the equinox axis and the Milky Way. The point is that "solstice-galaxy alignment" and "equinox-galaxy cross" refer to the same event.
It is my hope that the these definitions will help to standardize the terminology so we can clearly discuss the rare precessional alignment that culminates in era-2012.

In this Enoch legend he is instructed to excavate nine chambers featuring nine arches and to hide a white cube bearing a golden triangle inscribed with the name of God. Instead of dealing with the soul's journey alone (as Metatron's Cube appears to) this legend deals with the history of the World/Universe. In Enoch's myth, the cube represents materiality in general (Shekinah), and the golden traingle represents the divine spark inherent in everything. (see Alchemy, Hasidism etc.) The lowest of the nine arcs (ark, arch) in this scheme is the earth. This is the Shekinah story again.Manley Hall suggests that the nine worlds image relates to the nine stages of the Nordic initiation, the chambers where the rites were performed and the nine divisions of their cosmological template. Albert Pike suggests the same thing of the Enoch legend, that it pointed to a rite with nine stages that was performed literally underground, the form of which was related mathematically to their astronomical template. The logic goes like this: We'll form a club based on the nine planetary spheres, there with will be nine degrees to represent the phases of the souls journey. These numbers and ideas will inform our architecture and ceremonies. Underground chambers symbolize the womb, and nine of them would represent the human gestation period, nine months. Precession of the Tropical Zodiak & the Astrological Ages
The vernal point is also the fiducial (reference point) for the tropical zodiak, defining 0° tropical Aries. Because the vernal point moves in the ecliptic, the entire set of signs comprising the tropical zodiak also moves with respect to the stars (and the sidereal zodiak), which remain fixed in their location in the heavens.
The location of the vernal point in the sidereal zodiak defines the current zodiakal age. The sidereal zodiak is a set of signs, much like the tropical signs, except they do not move in the ecliptic. The sidereal signs are aligned with their corresponding constellations. The tropical zodiak aligned with the fixed sidereal zodiak around 200 A.D. but has since drifted 25°; i.e. this was when zero degrees tropical Aries aligned with 0° sidereal Aries. The vernal point currently resides at about 5° sidereal Pisces as it slowly moves toward the sidereal sign of Aquarius--thus we are completing the age of Pisces. We will formally enter the age of Aquarius when the vernal point precesses to 0° Aquarius--in about 360 years (5° x 72 yrs) from now. The vernal point is also called the Birthplace, or the Office of the Christos (point of the sun/son/soul)--governing the timing of the re-birth of soul consciousness into the world.
The vernal point's arrival to 5° sidereal Pisces at this time in Earth's precessional cycle (circa 2000 A.D.) creates a primary event that supersedes the importance of changing zodiakal ages: this event is the formation of a perfect cross in the cycle of Earth's Precession of the equinoxes. The formation of this precessional cross is explained below.
 The center (blue) ring in the above illustration is the sidereal zodiak. The signs of the sidereal zodiak align with their corresponding constellations and their stars. The sidereal zodiak does not move. It is referenced to the fixed stars in the heavens, or to the fixed and primary galactic equatorial axis in the ecliptic (the horizontal line). This axis is created by the intersection of the ecliptic plane and the galactic plane, which are tilted with respect to each other by 60°. The two nodes of this axis in the ecliptic are the “Galactic Equatorial Node” (GEN) at 5° sidereal Sagittarius, and the anti-GEN at 5° sidereal Gemini. They are also called the “Gate of God” and the “Gate of Man.”
The outer (violet) ring reveals the thirteen ecliptical constellations (not signs). This ring shows where the boundaries of the actual constellations cross the ecliptic. The constellation Virgo encompasses the largest length of the ecliptic (about 44°). The constellation Scorpio dips south of the ecliptic plane with only the Scorpion’s head lying upon the ecliptic–encompassing only about 6° of the ecliptic. Ophiuchus, the serpent holder, stands upon the Scorpion and crosses the ecliptic–thus creating the thirteenth ecliptical constellation (not sign).
The inner (green ring) is the tropical zodiak (at 2000 A.D.) The tropical zodiak moves around the ecliptic with respect to the fixed stars--with respect to the sidereal zodiak and to the constellations. It moves because 0° tropical Aries is referenced to the moving Vernal Point. The Vernal Point moves around the ecliptic at a rate of about 1° every 72 years (once around the ecliptic in Earth's ~25,000-year precessional cycle) due to Earth's precession. The tropical zodiak and its signs are not reference to the stars or actual constellations, the tropical signs are referenced to Earth's seasons (the Vernal Point is where the Sun resides in the ecliptic on the spring equinox, as experienced in the northern hemisphere). The signs of the tropical zodiak are currently miss-aligned with the true sidereal signs (and the energies of the actual stars and constellations) by ~25°, and they are drifting further and further apart due to Earth's precession.

Señor y Virgen del Milagro es una advocación católica, venerada en la Ciudad de Salta, provincia de Salta, norte de la República Argentina.
El origen de las imágenes se remonta al año 1592, época en que el obispo del Tucumán fray Francisco de Vitoria concretara la donación al pueblo de Salta de la imagen de un cristo crucificado de tamaño natural cuyo destino sería la iglesia matriz de Salta y de una inmaculada concepción para la ciudad de Córdoba. La llegada a tierras americanas de las imágenes y los hechos posteriores sucedidos luego de los terremotos de 1692 fueron, según los relatos, auténticamente milagrosos.

Después de la caída de los estados de las tierras bajas, los estados Mayas del altiplano central se mantuvieron hasta ser conquistados por los españoles, quienes llegaron por primera vez en 1523 y colonizaron el área. Durante el período colonial (1523-1821), Guatemala fue la capital de la Capitanía General de Guatemala, que abarcaba los actuales países de Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua y Costa Rica,y el territorio de Chiapas, la capitanía a su vez dependiente del Virreynato de la Nueva España, (actual México). Guatemala dio nombre a una de las audiencias que los españoles establecieron en América. La conquista del país fue encomendada por Hernán Cortés a Pedro de Alvarado, quien no tardó en someter el territorio, y en 1527 fue nombrado gobernador y capitán general de Guatemala y sus provincias. En 1543 se creó la Audiencia, que se llamó de los Confines, porque debía establecerse en un punto fronterizo de las provincias de Guatemala, Honduras y Nicaragua y que en 1549 fue trasladada a la ciudad de Guatemala. Durante la época de la independencia americana reinó relativa paz en Guatemala hasta 1821, fecha en que los sucesos de México cambiaron la situación Centroamerica se independizó de España el 15 de septiembre de 1821, un día antes que Mexico. Debido a inseguridades de gobierno, los dirigentes acordaron unirse al Imperio mexicano de Agustin de Itubide un año después. El 14 de septiembre de 1821, el Brigadier y Subinspector de Tropas, Don Gabino Gainza, convocó a la llamada Sesión Histórica que se llevaría a cabo en el Palacio Nacional de Guatemala a las 8:00 de la mañana del día siguiente. El Palacio Nacional estaba ubicado en lo que hoy dia conocemos como el Parque Centenario. Entre los numerosos asistentes, destacaron Don Mario de Beltranena, Don J. Mariano Calderón, Don José Matías Delgado, Don Manuel Antonio de Molina, Don Mariano de Larrave, Don Antonio de Rivera, Don J. Antonio Larrave, Don Isidro del Valle y Castriciones, Don Mariano de Aycinena, Don Pedro de Arroyave, Don Lorenzo de Romaña, Don Domingo Diéguez, Don José Cecilio del Valle, el Dr. Don Pedro Molina y el mismo Brigadier Don Gabino Gainza. Estos personajes firmaron el Acta de Independencia de España el 15 de septiembre de 1821. Fue una junta de Notables conformada con los miembros de la audiencia, ayuntamiento, autoridades eclesiásticas, claustro universitario, consulado de comercio, colegio de abogados y otras personalidades. Aquel día histórico tomó posesión como Jefe Supremo del Poder Ejecutivo el Brigadier Don Gabino Gainza, quien gobernó Guatemala hasta el 23 de junio de 1822, cuando fue sustituído por Don Vicente Filísola.
